process: analysis
I followed the structured steps of the ADDIE model to carefully tweak each stage of my process. This ensured that the learning experience looked, felt, and contained content that met top-notch standards.
Step 1: Identifying the goal
In the initial phase, I clarified the objectives for the GDPR course, aiming to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of GDPR and empower them to implement compliance measures effectively. Defining clear goals ensured that the course content aligned with learning outcomes, enabling participants to navigate GDPR confidently.
Step 2: Specifying the audience and creating learner personas
In this phase, I identified the course audience: all employees within the organization. Learner personas encompassed diverse roles and knowledge levels across departments. Understanding their unique needs, challenges, and motivations, I tailored content and delivery methods to engage and educate all employees on GDPR compliance
Step 3: Identifying the current state
Given that the course is designed for all employees, it’s reasonable to assume that some may have limited familiarity with GDPR. Therefore, the course should encompass fundamental concepts to ensure all participants, regardless of their prior knowledge, can grasp the essential principles of GDPR.
process: design
Step 1: scoping
Scoping a project involves defining clear learning objectives and outlining topics and sections.
Step 2: wireframing
The next step is to create wireframing, which involves sketching out the structure and layout of the course content.
Step 3: Screenplanning
Screenplanning involves mapping out the entirety of the course, detailing its core components and providing concise descriptions for each slide or screen. Additionally, icons are employed to signify whether slides incorporate text, audio, video, or images, and denote the type of interaction, if applicable.
Step 4: style guide
A style guide establishes consistent visual and design standards for a project. By following a style guide, designers ensure a unified look and feel, enhancing the overall user experience and brand identity.
Step 5: storyboarding
Storyboarding is the process of visually outlining the narrative flow and structure of a project, typically through sequential images or sketches. It involves mapping out key scenes, interactions, and transitions to provide a visual blueprint for the project’s development.

Interactive Prototypes and Full Development
During the development process of GDPR, I transitioned from interactive prototypes to full development, incorporating key features to enhance inclusiveness and engagement.
Additional Features
As part of enhancing the learning experience for “GDPR Essentials,” several additional features were incorporated:
mentor selection: Learners were given the opportunity to choose a mentor from a pool of experienced professionals in data protection and GDPR compliance. This personalized mentorship provided valuable guidance and support throughout the course, allowing learners to receive expert advice tailored to their specific needs and challenges.
learner name input: To personalize the learning journey, learners were prompted to input their names at the beginning of the course. This simple yet effective feature allowed for a more customized learning experience, with personalized greetings and feedback integrated throughout the course materials.
interactive exercises: Interactive exercises were strategically integrated throughout the course to promote active learning and engagement. From scenario-based simulations to decision-making exercises, learners were encouraged to apply GDPR principles in practical contexts, reinforcing understanding and retention of key concepts.
These additional features complemented the core content of the course, enriching the learning experience and empowering learners to apply GDPR principles effectively in their respective roles and responsibilities.
